SHOW RECAP + GALLERY: Giant Rooks make Anticipated Boston Return

With some queueing up as early as 4am, it feels an understatement to say fans have been eagerly awaiting Giant Rooks’ Boston return.

Since their last stop at Paradise Rock Club in 2023, the German indie rockers have taken the scene by storm with a viral cover of Suzanne Vega’s “Tom’s Diner,” as well as a strong support slot on Louis Tomlinson’s North American summer tour. Returning stateside in support of their recently released album How Have You Been?, Giant Rooks marked their return to Boston with their biggest US show to date at Big Night Live earlier this month.

Giant Rooks have undeniable star power. From the moment the group took the stage, the entire audience was instantly captivated. Catchy hooks, skillful instrumentation, and an off-the-wall energy from frontman Frederik Rabe made their set a not-to-miss event. Playing a large selection from How Have You Been?, alongside favorites from Rookery and New Estate, fans new and old had something to grab onto during the set. Alongside support Friedberg, Giant Rooks are a demonstration of just how good an indie rock show can be. If you have a chance to catch this duo on tour, I cannot recommend it enough.
