FFO: liverpool's-by-way-of-kaua'i eli smart

I think, on a daily basis, about how much good music there is in the world that I still haven't listened to it. Every time I think about it, I find myself needing to lie down. I can't believe that, up until about a month ago, I had no idea who Eli Smart was - so now I'm making sure you don't have to go any longer without knowing who is.

Born and raised in Kaua'i, Hawai'i, Eli Smart moved to Liverpool at the age of eighteen to follow his dreams and pursue a career in music. Smart's particular brand of indie pop is something he calls "Aloha Soul" - sharp guitar (with which he clearly knows what he's doing) mixed with elements of undeniable funk. It's infectious and impossible to get sick of.

I would, biasedly, recommend starting with my favorite song of Smart's, "No Destination," and work your way through the rest of his discography of singles on shuffle. Released in March, "No Destination" is currently his most popular track on Spotify, and my most-listened to song of the last month. If you like the music made by Alfie Templeman or JAWNY, you'll love what Eli Smart is doing.

Eli Smart can be found on Instagram and Twitter, and his music can be streamed wherever you listen. He'll be playing School Night's HOME SCHOOL weekly performance tonight (10/27) at 6pm PST.
